A man who suffered from severe injuries because of a serious road traffic accident was recently awarded a payout of £2.3 million by a High Court judge.

Nazer Ahadi, was struck head on by another car in 2006 whilst travelling to his bakery job along the A361 close to Devizes, Swindon.

The driver of the other vehicle was attempting to pass a lorry, and was travelling directly towards him when the crash took place.

Mr Ahadi, 26, was left disabled and suffered from a brain injury. His doctors thought that he would never be able to walk again, but he has defied medical opinion by doing so.

A ruling by a High Court judge determined that he should receive £2.3 million and £145,000 per annum for life.

The award will fund his round-the-clock medical treatment, a specially adapted home in Bristol and the neuro-rehabilitation he requires.

Mr Ahadi, who is originally from Afghanistan, came to the UK as a refugee when he was 13. He was looked after by a local family and became a popular local figure before his horrific road traffic accident.

Neil Elliott, solicitor at Thring Townsend Lee and Pemberton’s, was pleased that Mr Ahadi’s will be financially secure and looked after for the remainder of his life.

He said: “Prior to his accident Nazer was a bright and determined young man who had his whole life ahead of him. He is a remarkable and inspiring young man and we all wish him well for the future.”
