A hotel worker from Bolton has successfully made a compensation claim of over a thousand pounds from his employers after falling from a tree whilst trimming the branches.
64 year old Peter Aspinall made the work accident compensation claim after cutting down the branch on which his ladder was leaning whilst trying to prune a sycamore tree located within the grounds of the hotel with a bow saw, according to an article in the Daily Telegraph.
After cutting the branch that supported him, Mr Aspinall fell fourteen feet to the ground and broke his heel. He also suffered ligament damage and was forced to undergo surgery, leaving him in hospital for ten days following (more…)

The UK’s biggest tourist attractions are paying out millions of pounds in compensation claims each year after a sharp rise in the number of people seeking payouts for trips and slips whilst visiting the venues.
According to an article in the Daily Mail, the increasing compensation claims include a number of unusual or bizarre cases. For instance, at English Heritage site Carlisle Castle, a woman successfully claimed fifteen thousand pounds for injuries sustained to her pelvis and hip when she slipped into the moat whilst trespassing on the property in the middle of the night. English Heritage also paid her legal costs, totalling more than thirty seven thousand pounds.

A British man, from a traditional Pakistani family, has been awarded the highest ever compensation settlement for personal injury in the UK. 22-year-old Wasim Mohammed from Wasall, which is near Birmingham, was awarded compensation in an out-of-court settlement at a staggering total of £11.15 million.

A hotel waiter is seeking $75,000 (£49,000) in compensation after his employer honoured a request by British guests not to be served by “people of colour”.
The lawsuit filed against the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Naples, Florida follows alleged racist requests made by a British couple know as the Morgans. It is claimed when the Morgans checked in on 28th February 2010 they specially asked the hotel manager not to be served by “people of colour” or staff with “foreign accents”. Their preference was then recorded in the hotel’s computer system with a note stating “This couple is very very prejudice“.
On 12 March, Haitian-born Wanter Tranchant, a Ritz Carlton employee for 15 years, claims he was prevented by his supervisors to serve the Morgans at the hotel’s Grill Restaurant. According to the (more…)

Motorists are being advised to remain on the lookout for potholes. According to recent reports, compensation claims for damages caused by the poor state of Britain’s roads are soaring.
