David Isitt 52, from the Isle of Dogs, has won a six figure sum after his successful personal injury claim against the Metropolitan Police.
Mr Isitt, who is a HGV driver, sued the police not only for compensation but also loss of earnings following the incident that occurred in March 2007.
He was pulled over during rainy conditions in what was supposed to be a standard road safety check. The police officer in question felt that the load being transported on the tipper truck was unsafe, a claim which was disputed by Mr Isitt. To support his point, the officer then requested that Mr Isitt climb on top of the load to prove its safety.
Due to the rain and poor weather conditions making the load slippery, Mr Isitt climbed on top of the load and proceeded to fall 8ft to the ground, as a result shattering several major bones in his right leg. He was transported by (more…)

When one is in a motor accident, the most common type of injury that one is likely to get is whiplash. Although whiplash is not as severe as many other accidents others suffer in car crashes, the effects of it are very painful and can disrupt the life of the victim. Often people who suffer from this injury will make a whiplash claim to their insurance company. The reason behind this is that it can take three to six months to recover from whiplash. This recovery time will inevitably impact on the victim’s ability to work.
Luckily the victim can claim for compensation through their insurance company. They can claim for medical costs, the inconvenience caused to them by the injury and the loss of income that is a direct result of the injury. Any medical expenses that were incurred can be claimed for as well.
What this means is that for the victim making a whiplash claim, it is (more…)
