Just in time for £2 million compensation payout

There are rules regarding the time limits in which it is possible to make successful compensation claims for injuries. As reported in The Manchester Evening News, a courageous disabled individual has persevered and received an out of court of settlement worth £2 million. This is despite the fact that it seemed that time was against Jonathon Khairule in his fight for a compensation payout.

Now 28, Mr Khairule was born with an injury to his brain. However, he communicates via a computer and has even received a distinction in a prestigious IT qualification. Half a decade ago, he realised that his disability may have been caused by a lack of oxygen at birth. However, some legal experts informed him that he should have made any compensation claims between the ages of 18 and 21.

Fortunately, Mr Khairule was not so easily deterred. He took his case to the High Court, where the judges eventually decided that he could bring a claim against the allegedly culpable health authority. The National Health Service did not admit liability for Mr Khairule’s severe personal injury, but an out of court settlement was made. This settlement will enable Mr Khairule to purchase a home which will be adapted to his specific requirements.

The compensation payout was made possible by the use of specialist medical evidence. Sara Burns is a specialist in medical negligence cases who works for the law firm Irwin Mitchell. She was arguably instrumental in what happened.

This story demonstrates just what can be achieved if people stand up for their rights and consult experts in relation to compensation claims.
