A man has won his six year battle to receive compensation for a spinal injury he suffered as a result of a slip and trip. The man, Brian Piccolo, was on his way home from work when he slipped on water and flower petals that had been left on the floor in Marylebone Station. The flowers and water had been left there by the owners of Chiltern Flowers’ stall.
When he fell, he severely damaged his spine which has left it difficult for him to walk more than a few yards and he fears that he could one day be consigned to a wheelchair. Mr Piccolo original sought £1.5 million for his injuries, but the two parties have settled out of court on an undisclosed sum.
When the case went to court, the judge ruled that the flower stall’s owners were liable for the injury as they had failed to clear up the water and petals from outside their stall. As a result of which they had to pay personal injury compensation to Mr Piccolo.
