A woman injured in an attack on a store while she was shopping is proceeding with a claim for injury compensation against the retailer. The woman, 33 year old Xie Guomei, is suing the owners of China Carrefour, a retail giant in the country. She is seeking injury compensation after she was stabbed by a raider who was trying to rob the store.
The woman was shopping at the store in November last year when a man, Lu Zhiwen, cut her arm with a knife. Xie explained:
My muscle atrophy never recovered after that and the doctors said even my left hand might not be able to function well.
She is seeking 170,000 yuan (which is roughly $24,285) in injury compensation for her injuries.
She claims that the store did not have sufficient security, so should be liable for her injuries.
No security guard was around even after I was injured.
Other people were also injured in the attack. A young woman was stabbed in the chest, and she is also suing for personal injury. The attacker was shot by police.
