Janet Jackson not guilty of personal injury

US pop singer Janet Jackson, and sister of Michael Jackson, has just won her caught case against a man who claimed that he bodyguards assaulted him. Leonard Salati was suing Janet Jackson for $110 million after he claimed he was beaten up by her bodyguards outside of a nightclub.

The case was dismissed by a New York court after it ruled that there was no evidence of the assault.

Salati claims that he met Janet in a nightclub in 2005 and spoke to her in the VIP area. When Janet was leaving the club, Salati says he tried to kiss her and give her a piece of paper that contained his (more…)

Footballer to contest compensation claim

gary-charles1Former professional footballer Gary Charles is to contest the compensation claim that has been made against him after he assaulted a woman in a taxi office in 2005. The footballer attacked the woman after she made a comment about him not being good enough to have played for Manchester United.

The woman, forty-six year old Elizabeth Wedge, suffered physical and emotional injury after the assault where Gary Charles punched and kicked her.

Charles was given a suspended sentence for the assault, but later went to prison for another incident. The claim for compensation is due to be heard in November in Derby.

Despite Ms Wedge’s claim for compensation and her injuries suffered, Charles defends his actions:

I regret going out that night and putting myself in a vulnerable position.

My barrister suggested an appeal against the conviction but I wanted to move on. It does cross my mind that I should have appealed.

Ex footballer pursued for injury compensation

gary-charles1A former professional footballer is facing a claim for injury compensation after he attacked and beat up a woman who worked in a taxi booking office.

The footballer, former Nottingham Forrest player Gary Charles, could be forced to pay out a five figure compensation claim to his victim, 46 year old Elizabeth Wedge. Ms Wedge says she has suffered both emotionally and physically since the attack in September 2005.

Gary Charles received a nine month suspended sentence for his actions in 2006, however just 12 months later he was jailed after he assaulted a doorman outside a pub while drunk.

Ms Wedge stated about her anguish:

I’ve lost my job through this and not worked since the attack. I’m on incapacity benefit and disability living allowance.

Man who assaulted teenager forced to pay compensation

kayla-lee-purdieA girl who was attacked by a yob outside her own home is to receive £1,500 compensation from her assailant for the injuries she suffered. The yob smashed a brick into the face of fifteen-year-old Kayla-Lee Purdie, breaking her jaw and her cheekbone. The girl is now permanently scarred from the assault.

The attack happened on May 3rd last year, outside Kayla-Lee’s home in Edinburgh. The girl’s attacker, twenty-two-year-old George Ewing pleaded guilty to the attack and was sentenced to just 225 hours of community service.

As a result of the attack the teenage girl now has keep her hair long and wear special make-up to hide the scar.
