The most expensive supercar crashes revealed

An article on the Daily Telegraph website this week has revealed the ten most expensive road traffic accident incidences involving powerful supercars.

Topping the list was an historic 1962 Ferrari race car worth nineteen million pounds, which was damaged when its British owner ran into another car whilst in congested traffic.

The article featured three further Ferraris involved in major road traffic accident cases – the first being a six million pound Ferrari 250 Spyder damaged by a Californian hurricane, the second was a million pound 1959 Ferrari wrecked when it crashed into a wall during a historic racing event, and the third a Ferrari Enzo belonging to businessman Bo Stefan Eriksson. Eriksson lost control of the vehicle at more than 190mph, making violent contact with a pole.

Another expensive road traffic accident involved an eight hundred thousand pound Bugatti Veyron. 39 year old Away Soni borrowed his brother’s car just a week after it was purchased, promptly crashing into a Vauxhall Astra in Chertsey, Surrey.

A famous face has also suffered a speedy – and expensive – supercar crash, as former Blackadder star Rowan Atkinson collided with a pensioner driving a Metro whilst in his six hundred thousand pound McLaren F1 in 1999 near Lancaster.

Meanwhile, insurance firm Aviva could be faced with one of the largest payouts in UK history following a recent road traffic accident involving a Pagani Zonda S in Aberdeen, with the overall insurance bill estimated to be around three hundred thousand pounds.
