A new survey has revealed that drivers with particular names are more likely to be involved in a road traffic accident.
Insurers Elephant.co.uk carried out the research, which also disclosed the names of drivers who were less likely to be involved in an accident. Names that featured highly among accident prone drivers include Green, Lewis and Allen.
However, top of the risk list were motorists called Clark, who were 10% more prone than an average motorist to be involved in a road traffic accident. The names Hall, Roberts and Davies figured highly among drivers least likely to have an accident.
Managing director of Elephant.co.uk Brian Martin admitted that the research was light hearted, and that its conclusions do not have any bearing on how they deal with personal injury compensation claims or other accident claims.
He said: “Although the survey is a bit of fun, there are obvious differences in the accident rates of some surnames compared with others. However, we know not every Clark will be a risky driver, and not every Roberts will be a safe driver and it’s not something we rate our policies on.”
