Woman hit by policeman at G20 to claim compensation for personal injury

police-g20-assaultThe news last week was dominated by the alleged assault of a female protestor at the site of the G20 summit in London. The woman, as seen on televised news coverage from Sky and the BBC, was hit by a police officer across the face, and had her legs hit by the police officer.

The video of the incident was also made available on video sharing website YouTube. The woman, thirty-five-year-old Nicola Fisher, described the police officer who struck her as a thug and claimed he was out for blood that day.

Nicola received bad bruising from her assault on the 2nd of April. She has sold the story of her incident to a national newspaper, and is rumoured to have received £50,000 for it. She has also hired the celebrity publicist Max Clifford.

Nicola is now expected to make a claim for personal injury compensation against the police officer, for the injuries she sustained in the incident. The compensation claim is expected to be substantial as she has video evidence of the assault.

The police officer who struck Nicola had also concealed his police number prior to the incident. He has now been suspended from duty.

Ms Fisher stated about her incident:

The policeman is a thug with a weapon which he is legally allowed to use. He can do what he wants.

I was weeping and in the most dreadful pain. I looked like I had been whipped by the Taliban. I had a bruise measuring seven inches by four across the back of my thigh. And I had another purple four-inch bruise across the back of my calf.

Nicole Fisher refuted claims that she had verbally abused the police officer, claiming she only tried to defend herself from his assault.

I put my hands up to stop him pushing against me and the next minute I thought he had punched me in the face. But in fact he had backhanded me across my left cheek.

It was very painful and I screamed, ‘How can you hit a woman in the face?’

The policeman was very aggressive. His eyes were bulging and he was clearly looking for a fight. The next moment he lashed out at me with his baton, hitting me across the back of my left thigh. At the same time he again brought his truncheon crashing down on my calf.

Nicole Fisher will now proceed with her claim for injury compensation, claiming personal injury at the hands of the police.
