Sixty-two-year-old Bruna Long has received a seven figure sum in personal injury compensation after she was injured in a car crash which saw another motorist lose their life.
Mrs Long suffered a stroke following the road traffic accident, in which her husband also suffered personal injuries. The accident happened in 2004 on the A134.
Mrs Long was driving her Honda Accord when she was involved in a car crash with a Mini Cooper, which was being driven by Darren Puljic, who died in the accident. Following an inquest held a year later, in 2005, it was discovered that the accident was the fault of Mr Puljic, who lost control of his car, colliding with Mrs Long’s Honda.
It is also believed that Mr Puljic may have been speeding, and he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time.
Mrs Long sought a personal injury claim against Norwich Union, the insurers for Mr Puljic. Norwich Union admitted liability on the part of their client, and agreed a settlement with Mrs Long.
Rob Weir, Mrs Long’s personal injury lawyer, stated that his client has suffered since the accident:
Her powers of speech and comprehension have been reduced.
